Packaging project (2024/25)
Biomel repackaging
The brief: Re-design the packaging for an existing brand
My concept: A brightly coloured, eye-catching solution centered around their illustrative heart logo.
Process: Research the design space and existing brands, look at their existing packaging and what works and doesn't work. Ideate on different approaches for feedback from tutors and peers, make improvements and attend crits for further feedback and input until final submission.
Challenges: A lot of the flavour based illustrative approaches I explored resulted in vague imagery that didn't evoke strong associations with the flavours. Trying to settle on a series of colours that were relevant to the flavours and worked as a set but also weren't too similar was also a challenge. Trying to create enough differentiation between the flavours and have the text be bold enough for them to be easily differentiated between was something that informed a lot of the decisions I made in my approach.

A2 film poster design project (2019/20)
Thelma and Louise
The brief: Design an A2 poster for Thelma and Louise that interests people from a distance
My concept: An illustrated poster of Thelma and Louise driving in the car with key symbols from the film present in the poster.
Process: Research, watch through the film and makes notes and screenshots of key imagery and recurring motifs that could feature on the poster, ideation and preparation of some sketches of ideas for feedback from tutors and peers, make improvements and attend crits for further feedback and input until final submission.
Challenges: Designing for A2, it was a much bigger scale than I'd previously designed for, making effective use of the space without cramping the text together too much or distracting from the imagery was a new challenge. Testing the colours in print to make sure they were right before sending it to the printer for the final print and illustrating to a standard that looked good at A2 scale with not much previous illustration experience was probably the biggest challenge for this approach.

Music packaging project (2022/23)
CAii: the album
The brief: To design a vinyl cover and two additional products for an ablum.
My concept: To design a debut album cover for Manchester-based self-produced alternative pop artist CAii made up of their existing discography which consists of EPs and singles.
Process: Research album covers for similar genre artists, listen to the music and look through imagery to generate ideas, ideation and preparation of some sketches of ideas for feedback from tutors and peers, make improvements and attend crits for further feedback and input until final submission.
Challenges: Figuring out the best approach to mockup. the cover that does the gold paint from the original photo justice, creating a visually interesting piece of artwork that stands out at a glance but also is appropriate for the genre of music
